Equitable Recovery

On April 14th Greater NY’s Recovery Conversation Series explored equitable recovery.  Jeff Hebert, President of HR&A Advisors and Carl Weisbrod, Senior Advisor at HR&A Partners drew on their long experience in urban development and recovery planning to discuss how a carefully planned recovery could change the equity trajectory of New York City.

Pressure to move fast

When you start to think about recovery, there’s always pressure to move fast,” said Hebert. “It takes a conscious effort to re-tool thinking around speed so investments can be made to be generationally transformative to the communities most impacted.

Budget Equity

The real conversation should be about how we make the allocation of our capital budget more equitable, so our investments lead to outcomes that provide a greater degree of equity than we have seen in the past

Generational Change

The vision should be focused on generational change,” added Hebert. “Cities have an opportunity now to align goals with capital coming from the Federal government.
